wikitype is my personal form of poetry!
i started making these during a few of my mental downturns. and it's been an enjoyable form of self-expression.
the way i intend people to read these is two-fold:
- top to bottom left to right
- wherever your eyes take you
i mostly align things to give a diagonal sense of direction, with things leading into eachother rhizomatically
but i dont care how you read it, just that you do <3
also the poems do have meanings underneath, go find it xoxo
much love! -jc
P.S. i will write mainly about my inspirations and pages used; you shall interpret
(or read the didactic text written by my lovely friends!)
author's intent is fake. i am functionally dead, and you are fundamentally alive.
death of the author, birth of the reader
my main inspiration for making these is belgian expressionist poet Paul van Ostaijen, particularly his omnibus Bezette Stad.
so i took inspiration from typographical expressionism; applied to the digital format through image editing.
of course, i don't actually write any of the text. it's all screenshotted from wikipedia articles. it's découpé.

the community i was a part of at the time heavily inclined me to make references to systems.
as of writing (14 october 2026), i am (still) a singlet though.

This piece reflects the relationship between person and computer in the age of the internet, and how one's identity and the representation of one's self are not only freely explorable on the internet, but also shaped by it.
The line between person and machine begins to blur.
Where does my identity end and the computer begin? Who knows.

i actually made this one for the June 2024 zine of the Transing the Internet webring! go read it!
the use of red text mostly for literal red objects but then in its original context for the word 'false' (referencing how there it represents something unwritten and not included in a consensus) is my favorite touch
